ITAIS, an Interest Section of the TESOL International Association

The ITAIS (International Teaching Assistants Interest Section) was established to serve members of TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) who are interested in a range of issues associated with non-native English speaking teaching assistants. These issues include areas such as testing, materials, and course design, the nature of and standards for spoken English discourse, and the culture of classroom communication in North America.

The ITAIS seeks to encourage the sharing of expertise and specialized knowledge among ITA practitioners, to promote research into the spoken discourse of ITAs and the nature of their classroom communication, and to foster communication between researchers and practitioners.
